In the budget for 2024-25, Pakistan's federal government has decided to increase the sales tax on PCs and laptops from 5% to 10%. This adjustment is anticipated to raise the prices of these electronic devices, aiming to boost government revenue.

Additionally, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb announced substantial salary increases for government employees, with increments reaching up to 25%. Pensioners will also benefit from a 15% rise in their pensions. The minimum monthly wage has been raised from Rs 32,000 to Rs 37,000.

Despite financial challenges, the government intends to ease the burdens on its employees by implementing these salary and pension hikes. These initiatives are part of a broader effort to improve financial conditions and provide better support to public sector workers in Pakistan.
